Flight Sickness
"Flight sickness is caused by a reduction of the oxygen content in the body due to the high atmospheric pressure of high altitude, which reduces to amount of breathing oxygen in the air. A diagnosis of flight sickness is made when various symptoms, varying from one person to another, are observed. When an unacclimated individual rises rapidly to 2,000 metres or more, in a period of one to six hours afterward (a times even after a day or more), or following a night of sleep, the person suffers from a severe headache in the area of the forehead, vomits and feels tired. The symptoms are not unlike those of the flu, only without muscular pain and fever. The condition also causes irritability. If the symptoms worsen as a result of proper treatment, the patient may even slip into a coma."
