TOURISM UPDATE
The number of passengers travelling to Spain on low cost airlines rose by 28.4% in March
In March, 6 Spanish regions received 94.7% of passengers travelling to Spain with low cost airlines (LCA). Catalonia, the Region of Valencia, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Andalusia and the Region of Madrid together registered an increase of 30.9%. 67.8% of low cost airline (LCA) passengers came from the UK (29.9%), Germany (27.3%) and Italy (10.6%) and the level of occupation of these flights was above the average rate for traditional airline companies. During this period, 4.8 million passengers arrived at Spanish airports, 43.1% of whom had travelled with low cost airlines (LCA), representing an increase of 28.4% compared with the same month in 2007
